Ahoy, me hearties!
A year ago, I started this blog while lazily drinking rum and steering my pirate ship on a spring afternoon whose heady brightness made anything seem possible. And then I totes abandoned it. What can I say, except that pirates are busy people? We’ve got so many ships to hijack, treasure to bury and subsequently unbury, pirate classes to take… But we’ve been reading book blogs the whole time, wishing heartily that we could get back in on the action. Luckily for us sea-faring folk, Nymeth at things mean a lot posted a challenge that’s perfect for us! Since I took a class on British Fiction of the 1930s in pirate school this semester, I’ve already got a vast treasure chest full of loot, ready to be plundered for this challenge! Plus, since I was so busy with all the rest of my pirately duties as well as my 8 other pirate classes, I didn’t manage to read a couple of the required books, so this is the perfect opportunity! Seeing as the exam is on Wednesday, and all.
So, here I go, me maties!
With love from your captain,

Welcome, ye fellow bloggers (and pirates)!
As you may or may not know, we pirates get a little bored sometimes. I mean, a lot of what we do is sailing about, looking for likely vessels to plunder. We drink a lot of grog. We often have to park the ol’ boat at the nearest group of shoddily constructed houses and get some of the crew treated by the local crazy old medicine woman for scurvy and goiters and the like. But the rest of the time?
We read, friends. We read.
And we’ve been terribly inspired by all of your book blogs! Now that we can get teh intertronz pretty much anywhere, we’ve been RSSing that shit all over the place. We even took a gander at a library and finally renewed our card so that we could take out ever-growing stacks of books to share among the crew members.
Now we’ve decided to swab the decks of our brains, so to speak, and share with you all of our cherished knowledge. Clearly we are the prime candidates for a book blog of our very own – being pirates, we sure get around! Sadly, we only have one artistic crew member, who is currently occupied with the prisoners guests of honor down in the hold, so I don’t have my own header yet. Have patience, me hearties! The time will come.
Signing off for now, this is your Captain,
bill
